Learn about Harm Reduction & using Narcan to treat opioid overdose at Mar. 13 training session
Cincinnati State students, faculty, and staff members are invited to a presentation by Hamilton County Public Health on use of naloxone (Narcan) to prevent deaths caused by drug overdose.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, “Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids—including heroin, fentanyl, and prescription opioid medications—when given in time.”
The training session is Monday, March 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., in ATLC 330.
Presentation topics include:
- Purpose and activities of Hamilton County’s Public Health Harm Reduction program
- Types of opioids/opiates
- Signs of opioid overdose
- Use of naloxone for opioid overdose
- Laws protecting those administering naloxone
Those who register for the presentation by Thursday afternoon, March 9, will receive a free Narcan first aid kit with nasal spray and testing strips.
