Many College employees received new computers in Spring semester

More than 200 College employees received new laptops during Spring semester as a result of allocation of some of the federal stimulus funds received by the College.

  • Chief Information Officer Frankie Baker reported in March that 220 Dell laptop computers had been delivered to faculty and staff members, with additional computers available for about 90 eligible employees who had not yet been assigned a new laptop.

  • Still other new Dell laptop computers are available to replenish the supply of “loaner laptops” for registered Cincinnati State students.

  • Frankie thanked ITS staff members Patty Edwards, Jodie Driggs, and Alan Spinnenweber for carrying out the employee laptop project, which included “imaging” each laptop with the appropriate software as well as distributing the computers to employees.

President Monica Posey said, “The members of the College Executive Team appreciate the work of employees that has been happening on and off campus during the pandemic. We hope the new computers make this work a little easier.”

Frankie said employees have made positive comments about features of the new laptops, including the light weight, the speed of completing online tasks, and the effectiveness of the camera and microphone in supporting remote teaching, advising, and other College services.

“Our employees love the backlit keyboard, too,” Frankie said.
