Faculty can get a new “spark” at Lunch-&-Learn professional development sessions
The Office of Online Learning and the College-Wide Professional Development (ProDev) Committee invite all faculty members to a series of Friday Lunch-&-Learn events, where you can build new skills and learn more about topics like developing engaging course assessments and designing effective classroom activities.
Advance registration is required for these in-person and virtual sessions (see dates below). Those who register will receive additional information about how to attend.

Friday, March 3 (noon to 2 p.m. – Virtual) – Rethinking Assessments for Application & Engagement (presented by Quality Matters) – Registration deadline: Friday, Feb. 24
- Learn how to devise multiple assessment options based on your learning objectives and pedagogical goals.
- Learn how interaction and engagement are relevant to designing assessments.
- Rethink your current assessments for use in online classrooms with a focus on application and engagement.
Friday, March 24 (noon to 2 p.m. – In-person) – Curriculum Development using the ACUE Framework (presented by Dr. Stephanie Stafford) – Registration deadline: Friday, Mar. 17
- Explore strategies for quality course delivery derived from the ACUE (American Council on Education) model for faculty professional development.
- Discuss how you can adapt these strategies to your curriculum needs and course modalities.
Friday, April 21 (noon to 2 p.m. – Virtual) – Developing Activities to Engage Your Learners (presented by Quality Matters) – Registration deadline: Friday, Apr. 14
- Discuss how to align learning activities with learning objectives.
- Discuss challenges and opportunities around active group projects.
- Identify methods for designing group work that engages learners.
Friday, May 12 (noon to 2 p.m. – In-person – Lunch provided) – Year-in-Review: Time for Reflection and Collaboration (presented by Dr. Stephanie Stafford and Office of Online Learning Staff) – Registration deadline: Friday, Apr. 28
- Discuss ideas or techniques you implemented during this academic year or hope to implement in the future.
- Brainstorm with colleagues about ideas for improving instruction.
- Share information about resources you used or share ideas for resources you need.
