Volunteers needed to help CState host regional Science Bowl on Feb. 25
Cincinnati State is the host site for the 2023 Greater Cincinnati Regional Science Bowl, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy‘s Office of Science, on Saturday, February 25– and volunteers are needed to help make sure the event runs smoothly.
Teams of high school students from the Greater Cincinnati area and from as far away as Louisville and Columbus will take part in the all-day “quiz bowl” competition, demonstrating their scientific knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, Energy, Mathematics, and Physics.
Regional winning teams will move on to the National Science Bowl finals from Apr. 27 to May 1, 2023, in Washington, DC.
- On Friday, Feb. 24, volunteers are needed at 2 p.m. or 3 p.m. to help set up the competition rooms.
- On Saturday, Feb. 25, volunteers are needed from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help as:
- Moderator – Reads the quiz questions to the competing teams (Science, engineering, or math background required to serve in this role)
- Co-Moderator / Questions Judge – Assists the moderator during competition (Science, engineering, or math background required to serve in this role)
- Scorekeeper – Keeps score during the match and then reports scores to Science Bowl headquarters
- Timekeeper – Times the match
