Five-year academic calendar is approved
Academic Calendars for the next five years (2022-23 through 2026-27) were approved by the Cincinnati State Board of Trustees at their meeting on Sep. 28.
Provost Robbin Hoopes said key points considered in development of a 5-year calendar included:
- Complying with Ohio Department of Higher Education semester requirements.
- Providing sufficient time to enroll new students for Spring semester, by continuing to start the Spring semester in January after the Dr. Martin Luther King Day holiday.
- Adding a short Spring Break by reducing the “full-length” Summer semester to 14 weeks rather than 15. Using a 10-week schedule for some courses will continue to be an option in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
The Calendar Committee discussed options and conducted a faculty survey prior to making recommendations.
Provost Hoopes said this committee will continue to monitor student success data and other calendar-related concerns and may recommend adjustments to calendars for 2022-23 through 2026-27 if warranted.
Members of the Calendar Committee are:
- Dr. Denise Rohr, Associate Provost
- Jason Moore, Senior Director of Enrollment Services & Registrar
- Penny Parsons, Director of Financial Aid
- Karen Magness-Lewe, Registration Supervisor
- Abbey Yee, Professor, & Co-Chair of the Academic Policies & Curriculum Committee
- Kelly Hubbard, Professor
- Paula Kirch Smith, Professor
