CState joins “Moon Shot for Equity” initiative with Miami, NKU, and Gateway
On Wednesday, Sep. 15, a new higher education partnership titled “Moon Shot for Equity” will launch at a news conference at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati.
The news conference will be available to live stream starting at 8:30 a.m. at https://pages.eab.com/Moon-Shot-OH-KY.html.
The new regional partnership includes Miami University, Northern Kentucky University, Cincinnati State, and Gateway Community & Technical College.
“Moon Shot for Equity” is a national initiative that aims to close equity gaps within regional cohorts of two-year and four-year colleges and universities by 2030. The institutions will work together and with EAB, a technology and research organization, to help more students from historically underserved populations graduate from college.
Participants in the kick-off event include:

- President of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education Dr. Aaron Thompson
- Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber President Jill Meyer
- Cincinnati State President Monica J. Posey
- Gateway President Dr. Fernando Figeuroa
- Miami President Gregory P. Crawford
- NKU President Dr. Ashish Vaidya
Dr. Posey said, during the College Update on Sep. 13, that Provost Robbin Hoopes will lead the implementation of “Moon Shot for Equity” activities at Cincinnati State. She also said more information about the new initiative will be available soon.
