On Mar. 11, Cincinnati State shared with local news media the College’s plans for a “return to fully in-person learning” in Fall Semester.
- Several TV stations and other media outlets covered the College’s announcement. You can read Cincinnati Enquirer coverage here, or click to read the full news release.
Provost Robbin Hoopes said the planning for the Fall return to in-person learning puts both safety and student success at the forefront, and is based on the expectation that risks from COVID will “come down to an acceptable level.”
Provost Hoopes added, “In-person instruction is how we ensure students have the high level of training and hands-on skills they need to be successful in the workforce.”
- The class schedule for Fall will continue to offer students options for remote as well as in-person classes. Options include:
- “WEB” online classes that use an asychronous format (does not require attendance at a specific day/time).
- “LIVE WEB” remote classes that meet at designated days and times using teleconferencing tools such as Zoom or Blackboard Collaborate.
- The Fall schedule also will include “hybrid” variations of some classes, which will use combinations of in-person and remote activities (either in “web” or “live web” format, depending on the course).
- Student services provided in Fall, such as advising and tutoring, also will offer students options for remote as well as on-campus delivery.
- Parking on Clifton Campus will continue to be free for students in Fall.
Provost Hoopes said the College’s Academic Response Team, which includes academic administrators and faculty members, is developing additional guidelines for a “phased return to campus” in Fall and the weeks leading up to the start of the Fall semester.
These guidelines and protocols will be shared soon with faculty and academic staff members.
Additional details about the range of available class formats for Fall also will be shared soon with students as well as employees.
- Priority Registration for Fall Semester opens Mar. 29, and students will be able to view Fall course information online starting Mar. 22.
- Priority Registration for Summer Semester classes begins Monday, Mar. 15, with Open Registration for all Summer students starting Mar. 22.
