Cincinnati State faculty were honored at GC3 Celebration of Teaching
Two Cincinnati State faculty members– Beth Hamon and Kathleen Pickens– were recognized at the 35th Annual Celebration of Teaching luncheon hosted by the Greater Cincinnati Collegiate Connection (GC3) on October 31.
GC3 includes 18 area colleges and universities, and strives to “enhance the vitality of higher education and strengthen each individual institution, its faculty, its administration, and its student body.”
Beth and Kathleen were the recipients of the College’s House/Bruckmann Faculty Excellence Awards for 2022.
Dr. Beth Hamon is a Professor of Nursing who has served the College as a full-time faculty member since 2010.
She is the lead faculty member for courses that cover Medical /Surgical Theory and guides students in their clinical role transition experience. Dr. Hamon also will be serving as the program chair for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program that is expected to begin offering classes in Fall 2023. She collaborated with a team of faculty members to develop program learning outcomes, course learning outcomes, and course content for the new program.
Kathleen Pickens is the Coordinator of Information Services for the Cincinnati State Library, and has served the College as a full-time faculty member since 2012.
In addition to her librarian responsibilities, Kathleen has been actively involved in a wide range of service activities, including the College’s Budget Advisory Team, the Academic Technology Committee, the Scholarship Committee, and the Faculty Senate. She also serves as an internal Quality Matters Peer Reviewer for online courses. Her scholarship primarily focuses on library instructional design and the Science of Learning.
