Dean Janelle McCord retires & search for new HPS Dean is underway
Dr. Janelle McCord, Dean of the Health & Public Safety Division since 2018, retired on July 15 after 38 years of service to the College.
Associate Provost Denise Rohr said, “It will be difficult to replace Janelle’s years of experience, knowledge, and dedication to Cincinnati State and the Health & Public Safety Division.”
Prior to becoming Dean, Dr. McCord served as a faculty member and later as Program Chair for the Medical Laboratory Technology program. The program consistently has received accolades from accreditors and maintained 100% job placement for graduates (or close to 100%) for many years.
Dr. McCord also was a founding member of the AAUP Chapter at Cincinnati State and served as a chapter officer and as a member of the negotiating team for the first AAUP contract in 1990.
A screening committee for the next Dean of HPS is starting its processes. In the interim, the Provost’s Office is managing the HPS division, with Associate Provost Rohr as the point of contact.
