Culinary & Food Science student featured on “Now in the Nati”
Toni Halstead, a senior in Cincinnati State’s Culinary & Food Science bachelor’s degree program, was featured in August on the “Now in the Nati” web video series hosted by Fox19 TV.
Toni, the Chef at Redwine and Co., prepared a “colossal burger” on camera and described other warm-weather menu items with a variety of pickled accompaniments during a segment focused on food and drink offerings from the locally owned, women-operated restaurant.

Grace Yek, Program Chair for the Culinary & Food Science degree, said Toni credits her ability to prepare and innovate exciting food items to her culinary and food science education.
Yek said, “Toni tells me that by understanding the science of pickling, she’s become even better at the craft, and she has been able to apply her knowledge of ingredient functionality to create better sauces and spice blends for her work.”
