Visit MyCState 2.0 (& please send feedback!)
MyCState 2.0– Cincinnati State’s new intranet resource for students and employees– is live at https://livecincinnatistate.sharepoint.com.
For the next five days, both the “old” MyCState and the new MyCState 2.0 will be accessible.
Starting Monday, July 15, only the new MyCState 2.0 will be available.
Also starting no later than July 15, students and employees who go to the “old” MyCState address (mycstate.cincinnatistate.edu) will see a new Blackboard page that lists your Blackboard courses, and has slightly different navigation.
- Only employees and active students with a Cincinnati State email address will be able to visit MyCState 2.0. This College communication site will not be accessible to the general public.
- MyCState 2.0 is accessible on phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computers.
- Short video “tours” of MyCState 2.0 are posted on the intranet start page.
- Watch the Student video (opens on YouTube)
- Watch the Employee video (opens on YouTube)
- All visitors are encouraged to use the “Give Feedback” form in the top navigation to share your reactions and suggestions.
MyCState 2.0 for Students is a new resource that contains:
- News and announcements for students.
- An academic calendar and a student activities/events calendar.
- Quick links to a variety of information about College services and resources for students.
- In some portions of MyCState 2.0 for Students, links will go to the public website, CincinnatiState.edu. Over the next few months, more information will be moved to the intranet site, rather than opening pages of the public website.
- Feedback from students and other College stakeholders will be used to make other additions and improvements to MyCState 2.0 for Students.
MyCState 2.0 for Employees expands on the intranet section of “old” MyCState.
Several portions of MyCState 2.0 for Employees are not finished, and will be completed during the next few months, with input and feedback from the “owners” of various site content.
However, all files currently available to employees from the “old” MyCState will still be available in the “Documents” section of MyCState 2.0 for Employees. (To see all available items, use the Documents link in the top navigation.)
- Even out-of-date files have been moved to the new location. Sorting and refiling will occur over several months.
The processes for developing and deploying additional content for MyCState 2.0 will be led by Daily News Editor Pam Ecker (Professor, Technical & Professional Communication).
Chief Information Officer Frankie Baker and the ITS team will continue to manage and monitor the technical components of the new intranet site.
“This project to launch a brand-new intranet for students and an improved intranet for employees was completed in about four months,” Pam said.
“The short timeline was required because the platform for the ‘old’ MyCState is being discontinued on August 1 by Anthology, the company that provides it,” Pam said.
“This quick site development process didn’t allow us to consult in-depth with employees and students about their communication and information needs and preferences.”
“Those conversations are critically important to building truly useful intranet sites, so we’ll do that work over the next several months,” Pam said.
Some expansion of MyCState 2.0 for Employees is already underway, including building “sub-sites” for information from the Human Resources Office and the Office of Online Learning. When completed, both of these sub-sites will be available through the “Departments” dropdown menu on MyCState 2.0 for Employees.
Other sub-sites are anticipated in the future.
