Masks on campus are optional starting today
Cincinnati State’s revised guidelines that make face coverings (masks) optional on our campuses go into effect today, Mar. 14.
However, the COVID virus is still a threat, and some safety guidelines remain in place.
What has changed:
- As of March 14, 2022, masks are recommended but are no longer required while on Cincinnati State campuses, except for some skill-based labs and for situations described below (returning to campus after illness or exposure).
- The College’s mask policies take into account the recently-revised guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the risk level of the counties in the College’s service area.
- As of Mar. 10, all counties in the service area were rated “low” by CDC.
- Requirements for social distancing in public locations are no longer in effect. Campus signage about distancing is in process of being updated.
What has not changed:
- If you test positive or are exposed to COVID, you should continue to follow the College’s quarantine protocols, including wearing a mask for the designated amount of time when you return to campus after illness or exposure.
- These guidelines are available at https://www.cincinnatistate.edu/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Cincinnati-State-COVID-19-Guidelines_Spring-2022.pdf
- If you test positive or are exposed to COVID you should continue to report your illness/exposure so Cincinnati State can continue to track the spread of COVID on campus.
- Students should inform their instructors
- Employees should inform their dean or manager
- Masks continue to be a valuable form of protection for those at higher risk and are recommended for those who are not fully vaccinated while in locations that are indoors and/or crowded. Therefore, everyone in our College community should support and respect individuals who choose to wear masks.
- High-protection (KN95) masks are still available on request from division offices or from the Provost’s Office.
If you need a COVID vaccine first dose, second dose, or booster shot (if eligible), remember that an on-campus clinic will take place Wednesday, Mar. 23, from 9 a.m. to noon in ATLC 201.
- Vaccines and booster shots are free for Cincinnati State students and employees
- Walk-ins are welcome
- If you’re seeking a 2nd dose or a booster, please bring your vaccination card
Students who receive a 1st, 2nd, or booster shot at the clinic can fill out the eForm to enter the Spring Student Vaccination incentive, receive a $25 gift card, and qualify for weekly cash prize drawings and a grand prize drawing for $5,000.
