Winter weather leads to changes to operations

Feb 4, 2022

Cincinnati State, like the rest of the region, continues to respond to the winter storm that may or may not be named “Landon” through changes to operations.

All in-person classes, services, and activities are cancelled on Feb. 4 and 5 (Friday and Saturday) at all Cincinnati State campuses (Clifton, Harrison, Evendale, & Middletown), while online classes and services continue as usual.

  • Students should check College email and course Blackboard websites for information from instructors.

In-person classes, services, and activities will resume on Monday, Feb. 7.

Those who may be uncertain about College protocols for bad weather days should review the Weather Closing/Delay page of the College website.

The guidelines state (in part):

College administrators consider several factors when deciding on a weather delay or closing, including conditions on our campuses and on area roads, as well as weather predictions.

A decision to close or delay is made as early as possible, and is communicated by 6 a.m. to local radio and TV stations.

(Sometimes– depending on the specific weather event, and as was the case on Feb. 2– decisions are made and communicated at other times than early morning.)

Other ways to find out Cincinnati State’s status on a bad weather day include:

  • Sign up to receive notification by phone, text message, and email at CState Alert

  • Visit the College’s Facebook page or Twitter feed

  • Visit the homepage of the College website

  • Call (513) 569-1500 for recorded information

Faculty members should make sure their students receive clear information about course procedures and expectations for days when in-person classes are canceled or delayed.

Faculty members also should be aware (or seek information if needed) of program, department, and/or division policies and procedures for students and for instructors regarding missed classes.
