Transition to Teams Phone will take a little longer to complete; User Guide & training sessions are still available

Cincinnati State campus telephone service is changing to Teams Phone, using the Microsoft Teams chat, meeting, and calling app that is part of Office 365.

Chief Information Officer Frankie Baker said the transition in the four academic divisions, which was originally expected to start Oct. 24, might not begin until late October. The final steps of the project may extend into late November.

If you still need to prepare for the change in phone service, the Information Technology Services department has prepared a Teams Phone User Guide and is offering training sessions for College employees that will continue through Nov. 21.

  • Click to download the Teams Phone User Guide (it’s also posted on the College intranet, in the “Manuals and Documents” section).
  • The User Guide includes information for Getting Started, a list of Frequently Asked Questions, and how to install and set up Teams Phone.
  • The Teams Phone Training Schedule is available inside the User Guide, along with the Tentative Migration Schedule.
    • Training is available on multiple days and times, through Nov. 21.
    • If you plan to attend a training session, send an email message to Frankie Baker (frankie.baker@cincinnatistate.edu) and he will add you to the session invitation.
    • Be aware that sessions with no registrants will be canceled without additional notice.

After the migration to Teams Phone is completed, most desktop phones will be removed and your phone calls will be handled through your desktop computer (or laptop or mobile device).

  • Current College phone numbers will migrate to the new Teams Phone system.
  • You may want to use a wired or wireless headset when making and receiving Teams Phone calls.
  • Phones currently in classrooms will remain in place.
