Welcome new faculty and staff members in EIT

The Engineering and Information Technologies Division has welcomed a new tenure-track faculty member and a new staff member during Spring Semester.

Lynette Ashland is a new full-time faculty member in the Aviation Maintenance Technology program, after serving as a adjunct instructor for 6 years.

Lynn says she has “spent the better part of 25 years” in corporate aviation, working on aircraft from Beechcraft King Airs to Gulfstreams.

She spent many years based at Lunken Airport, but also has worked all around the world. Her most distant aviation-related assignment was in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

Lynn’s work responsibilities have included technician, inspector, manager of scheduling and planning, maintenance control, and director of maintenance.

She received her FAA Aircraft Inspection Authorization (IA) credential in 2000, and still conducts these inspections several times each year.

Lynn earned an associate’s degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology from Indian Hills Community College (Iowa) and completed her bachelor’s degree at Thomas More University.

Lynn is married and has two teenagers. Her husband works for Cincinnati Public Schools, so Lynn says she is a “true believer in public education and a good tech degree.”

Lynn serves on the National Board of Directors for the Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance (AWAM) and is the Chief Inspector for the Air Race Classic. She is a founding member of the local chapter of Women in Aviation, an international organization.

Lynn said, “I love teaching and working on aircraft, so putting the two together has been the best of both worlds!”

Lisa Bacu is a new Senior Lab Technician for EIT, specializing in supporting the labs used for Environmental Engineering Technologies and Chemical Technology courses.

She also will assist all EIT programs with lab safety and chemical procurement and disposal.

Lisa has a bachelor of science degree from Muskingum University and earned her master of science degree, with Environmental emphasis, from Ohio State. She is married, with three children.

Lisa owns Scientific Mayhem, an education-based company that strives to provide hands-on science activities and experiments for students from preschool to 5th grade, and also provides academic assistance to students of all ages.
