Webinars examine teaching strategies for the new academic year
Many organizations continue to offer programs that may be of interest to Cincinnati State faculty and other members of the College community.
Macmillan Learning, a publisher of print and digital learning resources for students and faculty, is offering free virtual webinars foused on promoting student engagement during the new academic year.
- Thursday, Aug. 12, starting at 1 p.m. Eastern Time: “Supercharge Classroom Engagement in a ‘Hy-flex’ Fall” – Examine tips and tools to maximize student engagement, including brief student readiness self-assessments, and ways to maximize student input before, during, and after class discussions.
The webinar presenters are Natalie Dougall, a Faculty Advocate and iClicker Trainer at Macmillan Learning, and Mandy Shaffer, Director of Institutional Initiatives at Macmillan Learning.

- Thursday, Aug. 12 and Wednesday, Aug. 25: “Returning to Normal? What we should keep from pandemic teaching”
- Part 1 (Aug. 19, starting at 2 p.m. Eastern Time) – Examine strategies, methods, and techniques gained from the past year that faculty should consider retaining in the new academic year.
- Part 2 (Aug. 25, starting at 2 p.m. Eastern Time) – Learn about student perspectives on what they hope will change and what they would like to see faculty keep from their pandemic pedagogy.
The webinar presenters are faculty members at the University of Arkansas: Dr. Heidi Skurat Harris, Associate Professor of Rhetoric and Writing, and Dr. Rebecca A. Glazier, Associate Professor of Political Science.
