Webinars examine active learning techniques & student mental health issues

Many organizations are continuing to offer programs that may be of interest to Cincinnati State faculty and other members of the College community.

Magna Publications, a provider of professional development resources for higher education, is offering a free webinar titled “Engaging College Students Using Active Learning Techniques” on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. (Eastern time).

  • Learning goals of the webinar include techniques to improve college student learning in the classroom and online as well as techniques for overcoming barriers to active learning.
     
  • The webinar leader is Dr. Claire Howell Major, Professor of Higher Education at the University of Alabama.

The Chronicle of Higher Education is offering a free webinar on student mental health, titled “Campus Well-Being Post-Pandemic” on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. (Eastern time).

  • Learning goals of the webinar include gaining deeper understanding of mental-health issues college students face and examining steps colleges can take to serve distressed students.
     
  • The virtual forum leaders are a panel of experts from higher education and mental health organizations, and a student representative.
