Faculty can join a new ACUE cohort & earn credential in effective teaching practices
Full-time and adjunct faculty members are invited to earn a credential in Effective Teaching Practices through the year-long online course offered by ACUE (Association of College and University Educators).
Cincinnati State has 10 spots available for the program that begins September 9, 2024, and concludes in April 2025, with a break for winter holidays.
More than 50 Cincinnati State faculty members have completed ACUE training over the past three years.
The ACUE Effective Teaching Practices program includes weekly viewing and reading of resource materials, assessment and discussion of examples and case studies, and implementation of new teaching practices.
- The course modules cover hundreds of practices that promote active and effective student learning, and most of the practices apply to in-person and hybrid course formats as well as online instruction.
- The ACUE credential is the only nationally-recognized collegiate teaching credential endorsed by the American Council on Education.
- Recently-published research revealed that students taught by faculty who participated in ACUE courses perceived significant increases in their own growth mindset, as well as their confidence participating in class, attending office hours, and managing their coursework and deadlines.
Dr. Stephanie Stafford, Associate Dean of Teaching & Online Learning and coordinator of the College’s ACUE involvement, said to ensure a diverse and representative cohort from Cincinnati State, participant selection will not be “first-come, first-served.”
She encouraged those who are interested in “transforming your teaching practices” to send her an email message (stephanie.stafford@cincinnatistate.edu) no later than Friday, July 5. Selected participants will be notified by July 12.
