If you were unable to attend the May 28, 2024, meeting of the College Board of Trustees, the video recording of the meeting is available on the College intranet (login required).

Trustees’ action items and discussion topics included:

  • Discussion of College finances and building the budget for Fiscal Year 2025. The new fiscal year begins July 1, 2024, and the final budget for FY25 will be presented to the Board for approval at their June meeting.
    • Budget planning assumptions include an enrollment increase of at least 1 percent compared to the previous year, a previously-approved tuition increase of $5 per credit hour that is in effect starting in Fall 2024, and an increase of more than 4 percent in the amount of State Share of Instruction (subsidy) funds received from the state of Ohio.
    • The budget plan also anticipates adding four full-time faculty positions and four staff positions.
    • In addition, the budget plan includes allocating funds for remediation of technology problems, particularly problems related to obtaining reports generated with the Informer data analysis tool, and for transition to a new Learning Management System. The amount allocated for deferred maintenance costs will remain at the same level that has been budgeted for the past two fiscal years.
  • A report from Provost Robbin Hoopes on the results of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Comprehensive Quality Review visit that took place in April. Provost Hoopes noted that the review team’s report found no deficiencies and recommended a 10-year accreditation. He thanked Associate Provost Denise Rohr and all of the members of the College community who contributed to the successful HLC visit.
  • A report from Faculty Senate President Milene Donlin on Senate activities, including conducting focus groups with adjunct faculty members to learn more about topics of concern to adjuncts.
  • A report from President Monica Posey and Provost Hoopes on strategies and activities that have contributed to the College’s increase in state subsidy funds, including improvements in advising and placement of new students in courses, implementation of a new online student orientation tool, improvements in Self-Service online tools students use to register and complete other College processes, and professional development for faculty through the ACUE program.
  • Dr. Posey also recognized the 2024 recipients of the Faculty Excellence Awards, the 2024 Emeritus Professors, and the student winner of a national award presented by the Cooperative Education and Internship Association.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees is scheduled for June 25, 2024, at 3:45 p.m., in the Conference Center on Clifton Campus.
