I-75 / I-74 Construction Update – June 12-14
Overnight restrictions will be in place this week near Clifton Campus as part of the Interstate 75/I-74 Mill Creek Expressway – Phase 5B project.
- All scheduled work is contingent upon weather.
- To help ensure the safety of construction workers and the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed, and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zones.

Wednesday-Friday, June 12-14:
- Closure of Spring Grove Avenue, between Colerain Avenue and Mill Creek Road, from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. the following day. Motorists may detour by Monmouth Avenue, Central Parkway and Ludlow Avenue.
- Closure of the ramp from southbound Beekman Street to I-74 East, between 10 p.m. each night and 5 a.m. the following day. During periods of closure, traffic will be detoured via Elmore Street, Colerain Avenue, I-74 West and the Montana Avenue exit (Exit 17) to I-74 East.
Thursday & Friday, June 13 & 14:
- Single-lane closure (right lane) on I-74 West, from the northbound Beekman Street overpass to the southbound Beekman Street overpass, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following day.
- Single-lane closure (right lane) on I-74 East, between the Montana Avenue on-ramp and the Elmore Street overpass, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. (Exit 18 to Beekman Street will remain open.)
During the 2024 construction season, the next phase of the Mill Creek Expressway project will see the reconstruction of the I-74 bridges over Spring Grove Avenue and Elmore Street, as well as the replacement of median barrier, pavement, highway lighting, signage, traffic monitoring system, noise walls, bridge painting, and drainage.
The project is on schedule to be completed in the summer of 2025.
