CState faculty & students contributed to Medical Assistants conference

Cincinnati State was a sponsor of the Ohio State Society of Medical Assistants conference held in Cincinnati April 25-27, and several College faculty and staff members added their expertise to the Conference program.

  • Patricia Christos, Program Chair for the Medical Assisting Certificate, served as Vice-Chair for the conference and discussed Lead Poisoning during a conference session.
  • Nursing instructor JoAnne Worthington presented on Disparities in Healthcare.
  • Health Information Management instructor Ann Gingell discussed Healthcare Insurance coding procedures.
  • Career Center Director Kelly Harper spoke about interviewing skills.
  • Biology Professor Julee Johns led a workshop on Communication, Conflict Resolution, and Creativity.

Olivia Potts received the Mary Buckley Outstanding Student Scholarship, with her instructor, Carley Taylor, by her side. Several other Medical Assisting students attended the conference and served as volunteers.

In keeping with the organization’s mission of community involvement, conference participants donated items to help support Surge Cupboard Food Pantry and the Career Closet at Cincinnati State.
