CState and partners hosted “Scrubs Camp” for high school students
Cincinnati State hosted “Scrubs Camp 2024” to give about 50 high school students from Butler Tech an opportunity to explore a variety of career opportunities in healthcare and public safety.
The program that took place from May 13 to 17 was hosted by The Health Collaborative, Southwest Ohio College Tech Prep, and UC Health: West Chester Hospital as well as Cincinnati State.
During Scrubs Camp, the high school students learned through lectures, demonstrations, and conversations with Cincinnati State faculty and staff. The students also practiced hands-on skills in lab activities, with guidance from College personnel.
One of the camp days was spent job-shadowing at West Chester Hospital. The students gained insights about the world of work by touring the hospital and meeting with healthcare professionals.
On the final day, campers invited a parent or guardian to attend a lunch where students spoke about their experiences during the week and received a certificate of participation.
