Helpers needed for New Student Welcome Days in May, July, & August

Staff member assists a new students at a summer Welcome Day event — New students receive personal assistance during Welcome Day events

Volunteers are needed to greet and assist hundreds of new students and their guests at Cincinnati State Welcome Days that start Thursday, May 9, from 5 to 8 p.m., and continue in July and August.

Interim Director of Admissions Audrey Woods said, “Over 230 students are registered for the May 9 event and we still have three weeks to go! That’ s a great sign, considering that last summer we had two Welcome Day events for students who were starting in Summer, with a combined total of 135 registrants.”

In addition to the May 9 event, other Welcome Days will take place:

Thursday, July 25 – 5 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, August 3 – 9 a.m. to noon
Friday, August 16 – 9 a.m. to noon

Volunteers are needed for all of the Welcome Days to greet guests and help them find their way around Clifton Campus.

“Feedback from previous Welcome Day participants showed that many students wanted to ‘walk their schedule’ rather than going on a set campus tour, so we will need helpers stationed in many locations,” Audrey said.

Welcome Day visitors also will have opportunities to learn about campus resources and services, and meet with academic division representatives.

For the May 9 event, dinner for volunteers will be provided starting at 4 p.m. in the Welcome Center (ATLC Ground Floor). Students who assist also will get a free t-shirt.
