Faculty member Meg Clark is co-author of new textbook
Meg Clark, Program Chair for Cincinnati State’s Finance associate degree, is a co-author of a recently-published textbook: Family Financial Resource Management: Foundational Knowledge and Strategies.
The textbook publisher, Cognella, Inc., describes the text as “an excellent resource for courses in family science, personal finance, and financial counseling, as well as for individuals and families interested in improving their knowledge regarding financial management.”
Meg said she collaborated a few years ago with Anthony James, the textbook’s lead author, on a Family Resource Management course offered at Miami University.
“He said there was a need for this type of book in the Family Science discipline and asked me if I would like to work on it,” Meg said. “Because of the pandemic, our expected 1-year project took 3 years to finish.”
Meg added, “Our book is different from others on the market because it combines Family Science theory with the most important financial literacy concepts for family life.”
“The book includes checklists for financial items families should be thinking about as they progress through the family lifecycle, from becoming a newly independent adult, through marriage and raising children, into retirement and the final years,” Meg said.
The text also provides an overview of best practices for financial management in the context of family life, including budgeting, debt management, and saving and investing.
Family Financial Resource Management is available from the Cognella website as well as through Amazon and other online booksellers.
