I-75 / I-74 Construction Update – Feb. 21-26

Some daytime and overnight restrictions are scheduled this week as part of highway construction projects.

• All scheduled work is contingent upon weather.
• To help ensure the safety of construction workers and the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed, and watch for stopped traffic while passing through the work zones.

Mill Creek Expressway Project

Wednesday, February 21:

• Closure of the thru lane on I-74 West, between the Spring Grove Avenue overpass and the southbound Beekman Street overpass, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Thursday, February 22. Traffic will be detoured via the northbound Beekman Street exit (Exit 18) and Colerain Avenue to the I-74 West entrance ramp.
• Activation of a temporary signal at the northbound Beekman Street off-ramp from I-74 East. The signal will be in flashing mode from noon Wednesday to 3 a.m. Monday, February 26. Following this, it will be placed in stop-and-go operation through December 2, 2024, to be used in conjunction with a Texas Turnaround at Montana Avenue.

Thursday, February 22:

• Closure of the contraflow lane on I-74 West, between the I-75 and southbound Beekman Street overpasses, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday, February 23.
• Closure of the left lane on I-74 East, between Montana Avenue and the Beekman Street exit (Exit 18), from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday.

Friday-Monday, February 23-26:

Full closure of I-74 West, from the I-75 North and South exits to just west of the southbound Beekman Street overpass, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, February 23, and continuing until 5 a.m. Monday, February 26. The on-ramps from northbound and southbound Beekman Street/Colerain Avenue to I-74 West will remain open.

• Traffic from I-75 North to I-74 West will be detoured by way of westbound S.R. 126 (Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway) and I-275 South to I-74.
• Traffic from I-75 South to I-74 West will be detoured by way of the Sixth Street viaduct to westbound U.S. 50 (River Road) and S.R. 128 North to I-74.

Additional restrictions in effect will include:

• Single-lane closure on I-75 North, between Hopple Street and I-74 West on-ramp, from 8 to 9 p.m. Friday, prior to the closure of the I-74 West closure at 9 p.m. 
• Single-lane closure on I-75 South, between Mitchell Avenue on-ramp and the Ludlow Bridge overpass with I-74 West on-ramp beginning at 8 p.m. Friday and continuing until 5 a.m. Monday. A double-lane closure in this same section of I-75 South will be in effect from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday, February 24, while crews establish traffic controls for the closure of I-74 West.
