Surge Cupboard seeks donations to serve student needs
The Surge Cupboard Food Pantry needs help restocking the supplies that assist Cincinnati State students who are dealing with food insecurity.
What’s needed
Items most in demand this semester include:
- Canned meat
- Canned vegetables such as green beans, sliced carrots, and corn (The Food Pantry is well-stocked with other kinds of beans)
- Pasta (but not mac & cheese; the Food Pantry has plenty)
- Pasta sauce
- Jelly (The Food Pantry has lots of peanut butter, but no jelly)
- Cereal (all kinds)
- Any easy-to-prepare breakfast item, such as pancake or waffle mix
- Fruit in plastic containers (rather than in cans)
- White Rice and/or Black Beans in small plastic bags (easier to carry than larger bags)
Surge Cupboard donation boxes are in each academic division office, or you can contact Angela Haensel (angela.haensel@cincinnatistate.edu) to deliver donations.
How students can use the Surge Cupboard
Currently-registered Cincinnati State students may visit the Surge Cupboard in Main 137 once a month to receive up to a 3-day supply of food and toiletries at no cost, by showing their Surge Card (student ID card) and bringing their MyCState/Blackboard login information.
- Service hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from noon to 3 p.m.
- Students who want to visit the Food Pantry but have a conflict during the standard service hours should send a message to Angela Haensel (angela.haensel@cincinnatistate.edu).
