“Spark” professional development sessions for Spring start Feb. 16 with “AI in Higher Ed”
The Office of Online Learning and the College-Wide Professional Development Committee invite faculty members and other interested employees to attend the Spring series of “SPARK” Lunch-&-Learn events, where you can investigate new resources and build new skills.
The first SPARK session for Spring, “Navigating AI in Higher Education,” is Friday, February 16, from noon to 2 p.m., via Zoom.
- This session will examine the dynamic intersection of Artificial Intelligence and higher education. Workshop participants will explore strategies for harnessing the full potential of AI in teaching, so you can create enriched and innovative learning experiences.
- Participants will identify practical applications of AI tools in their academic discipline, design a lesson plan or project that incorporates AI, and discuss potential ethical challenges in AI integration.

- Friday, March 22, noon to 2 p.m. – Quality Course Design Impact – Virtual – Discover the transformative power of quality course design and its profound impact on student success. Participants will take an interactive, in-depth look at Quality Matters (QM) standards for course design. When applied to online course sites, these standards can improve student navigation of online courses and break down barriers to student achievement.
- Friday, April 12, noon to 2 p.m. – Tech Tools Unleashed: Canva, Padlet, and EdPuzzle – In-person – Participants will have a chance to try out three versatile tools you can use to enhance your teaching and create engaging course content.
