New vending machines coming to CState campuses
From January 2 through January 12, new vending machines for snacks and beverages are being installed at Cincinnati State’s Clifton, Harrison, and Evendale campuses.
New snack machines and beverage machines with Coke-brand products will be placed in the same locations as previous vending machines. The new vending company will not be able to install a coffee machine.
Prices are expected to increase when the new vending machines are in place.
On Clifton Campus, if you’re looking for snacks and no vending machines are available, the Overlook Cafe is open January 2-5 and January 8-12. Hours are:
- Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
- Friday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Bakery Hill will reopen on Tuesday, January 16.
Why the change?
Legislation enacted by the State of Ohio in 2017 specifies that the state may require public colleges and universities in Ohio to use vending services provided through Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD), a state agency that “empowers Ohioans with disabilities through employment, disability determinations, and independence.”
- Recently, the state exercised its option to require Cincinnati State and many other Ohio colleges and universities to begin using OOD vending services. Colleges and universities do not earn any profits from the vending services; all earnings go to the participating vendors.
- The company that will provide campus vending services at Cincinnati State, Snacs Vending LLC, is part of the OOD Business Enterprise Program.
