Cincinnati State is recognized as a Collegiate Purple Star campus for supporting military and veteran students

Cincinnati State has been designated as an Ohio Collegiate Purple Star campus for providing outstanding efforts to support students with military backgrounds and their family members.

Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Randy Gardner announced on November 8 that Cincinnati State has joined the group of 50 other Ohio colleges and universities currently designated as Collegiate Purple Star campuses.

Provost Robbin Hoopes said, “The Purple Star designation is a recognition of the College’s commitment to veterans who come to the College with skills and competencies from a wide range of technical fields as a result of their military training and experience. Cincinnati State’s excellent technical program allow our veterans to leverage their skills toward an in-demand, high paying job or to continue on to a bachelor’s degree.”

“We should all be exited about receiving the Collegiate Purple Star designation, and also remain committed to doing more for our military-connected students,” Provost Hoopes added.

Cincinnati State’s application for the Collegiate Purple Star designation was submitted in October 2023. Dean Yvonne Baker led the work group that prepared the application, which required the College to document a variety of methods for providing support to military-connected students.

Applications were reviewed and evaluated by the Collegiate Purple Star Advisory Committee appointed by the Chancellor.
