CState students will host a forum for Cincinnati City Council candidates on Oct. 26
At least half of the candidates for Cincinnati City Council (5 of 10) are expected to participate in a candidate forum on Thursday, October 26, from noon to 1:30 p.m., in the Conference Center on Clifton Campus.
All Cincinnati State students and employees are encouraged to attend, and members of the public are also welcome at the forum.
Cincinnati State President Monica Posey will greet the candidates. Jappie Kauer, president of Cincinnati State Student Government, will moderate the event.
All candidates for the upcoming Cincinnati City Council election were invited to attend the forum, where they will be asked to respond to questions submitted by Cincinnati State students.
The idea for a Cincinnati City Council Forum came from Djibril Thiam, the president of the Black Male Initiative (BMI) student organization, and the College’s Student Government Association is partnering with BMI to co-host the event.
In addition, students enrolled in an Audio/Video Production class will be live streaming the forum. To watch the live stream, go to https://youtube.com/live/8zPgcr2Ab08?feature=share.
Cincinnati State student groups hosted a similar forum for Cincinnati City Council candidates in 2021.
Cincinnati State students who attend the forum have the opportunity to share their reactions to the event by participating in an essay contest. Three essay writers will win a $20 gift card. Students can learn more at https://forms.office.com/r/Y68tFaVaHn.
