CState celebrated Constitution Day
Cincinnati State’s Constitution Day activities for 2023 were co-sponsored by Student Activities and the Cincinnati State Historical Society. During in-person activities on Sep. 19 as well as an online celebration on Sep. 17, students could test their knowledge in the Constitution Day Quiz, and earn opportunities to win gift cards.
Nearly 50 students visited the in-person Constitution Day table, and almost 300 participated in the online activities.
Constitution Day– also known as Citizenship Day– is celebrated on September 17 each year to commemorate the day in 1787 that delegates to the first U.S. Constitutional Convention (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, and more than 30 other “founding fathers”) signed the document that established the U.S. national government.
In 2004, the U.S. Congress designated Sep. 17 as Constitution Day, with requirements for public schools and governmental offices to provide educational programs to promote better understanding of the Constitution and citizenship (both native-born and naturalized).
