Faculty members empower research success (and each other)
Librarian Kathleen Pickens met with Nursing 101 classes during the early weeks of Fall semester– as she often does when classes are getting started each semester– to help Nursing students improve their skills in conducting research effectively.
However, Kathleen didn’t expect to be greeted by Nursing faculty members Dr. JoAnne Worthington and Dr. Connie Rose wearing “Cincinnati State Nurses Love Our Librarians” shirts!
Kathleen and other Cincinnati State Library personnel provide instructional sessions every semester to help students learn that research can (and should) be fun, and to familiarize students with the strong support system available to them when research-based assignments seem challenging.
Any faculty member with a research-based assignment can consider scheduling a library research session to help your students learn how to locate credible, full-text sources that will support your assignment expectations.
- Complete instruction and hands-on practice sessions are typically held in the Library’s computer lab, but the Library also can come to your classroom for a quick demonstration that spotlights key resources to support a specific assignment.
- Zoom sessions are available also.
- (Greeting the Librarian in specialized t-shirts is entirely optional.)
