Press conference on Aug. 24 will describe new grant for expansion of Nursing programs
Members of the College community are invited to attend a press conference on Thursday, August 24, to recognize the grant awarded to Cincinnati State by the Hamilton County Commissioners that will support expansion of the College’s Nursing programs.
The press conference takes place from 10:30 to 11 a.m. in the Lobby of the Health Professions Building and will include Hamilton County Commissioners and guests from partner organization.
The grant provides about $1.5 million from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds that will make it possible to expand the College’s nursing programs to include 100 additional students seeking RN, LPN, and STNA credentials. When they graduate, these nursing students will help address nursing vacancy rates in the region that have reached a 15-year high, according to The Health Collaborative.
The funds will support student scholarships, lab equipment, and instructional costs, as well as providing support for partnerships with organizations including The Health Collaborative, Closing the Health Gap, and the Black Nurses Association of Greater Cincinnati.
Cincinnati State received funding after submitting a successful proposal in a competitive award process.
Cincinnati State Provost Robbin Hoopes and Dr. Janice Lockett, Program Chair for associate degree Nursing, attended the June 29 meeting of the Hamilton County Commission to thank Commissioners for selecting Cincinnati State for this funding.
