Student & employee volunteers needed as reading tutors for Clifton Area Neighborhood School; training session is Aug. 29
Cincinnati State is partnering with Clifton Area Neighborhood School, located just minutes from Clifton Campus at the corner of Clifton Ave. and McAlpin Ave., to provide reading assistance for students in kindergarten through second grade.
All interested students, faculty, and staff members are invited to attend tutor training led by Queen City Book Bank on Tuesday, August 29, from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. in ATLC 313.
Students with majors in education, psychology, or social work are encouraged to consider this opportunity, but students in all majors are welcome.
Student clubs or organizations looking for service projects in the area also might want to participate.
- Tutoring at Clifton Area Neighborhood School will begin the week of September 18.
- Volunteer tutors need to be available during the school day (between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.) and should be be prepared to volunteer 1 or 2 hours each week throughout the semester.
- For the training session on Aug. 29, volunteers need to provide their social security number for a background check, and bring a photo ID. Queen City Book Bank will take photos for the required Cincinnati Public Schools badge volunteers will wear.
