Don’t ignore calls from the 283 area code

Starting on April 28, 2023, the new 283 area code went into effect in Southwestern Ohio.

• According to The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, the 513 area code is expected to run out of available phone numbers by the end of 2023.
• Therefore, anyone in the traditional 513 region who requests new service or an additional line now will receive a number with the 283 area code.
• Those who already have a 513 number will keep their current number.

Since 10-digit dialing for local calls is required, be aware that numbers you receive from new contacts might require the new 283 area code as their starting point.
