CS adjunct helped explain operating room roles to Rockdale Academy students

Cincinnati State adjunct instructor Nickia Brown, a Surgical Technologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, was part of a team from Children’s that recently visited Rockdale Academy (Cincinnati Public Schools, Pre-K to grade 6) to demonstrate and talk about professional roles in the operating room.
Along with Nickia, the group from Children’s included two other surgical technologists, a surgical fellow, and a surgical general doctor.
The team demonstrated the surgical process and helped students practice their skills with a dissection of owl pellets.
Nickia said, “In addition to explaining the role of the surgical technologist, I talked about opportunities that are available if you graduate from the Surgical Technology program at Cincinnati State!”
