Student organizations held food drives to support the Surge Cupboard
Two Cincinnati State student organizations recently carried out food drives to support the Surge Cupboard Food Pantry.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) members collected nearly two barrels of food (over 180 items) to help stock the shelves of the pantry.
The PTK food drive included awarding points for various donations, with a gift card prize for the member with the highest point total.
- Donations of items most needed by the Food Pantry–canned meats–earned 3 points each.
- Other needed items, such as sugar, flour, breakfast items, beans, and rice, earned 2 points each.
- All other donations were worth 1 point each.
Kaylin Lawson won the contest with 119 points, followed closely by George Wentworth at 116 points. Naquita Murphy and Christina Smith also were top contributors to the drive.
The Surgical Technology Scrub Club members also conducted a food drive on behalf of the Surge Cupboard as their Spring community service project. For their Fall project, club members participated in the Cincinnati “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” at Sawyer Point.
