Women’s History Month Exhibit on Women in African Art features work by adjunct instructor
Artwork by Cincinnati State adjunct instructor Madeline Ndambakuwa is featured in a Women’s History Month exhibit, Elements of Culture: Women in African Art, at Joseph Clark Gallery (4038 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati).
All are welcome at the Opening Reception on Saturday, March 25, from 5 to 9 p.m. The exhibit will continue at the Gallery through April 29.
The exhibit highlights the female form in African art and women’s influence in all aspects of African culture. Their significance is chronicled in sculptures, masks, textiles, jewelry, beadwork, pottery, and other items used daily.
The Opening Reception includes conversation with Ms. Ndambakuwa, an educator, poet, and visual artist, starting at 6 p.m. She will discuss her original artwork and the value of a woman’s voice.
Refreshments and music will be provided.
