Women’s History Month on campus: watch Frida Kahlo documentary on Mar. 22
All members of the College community are invited to a free viewing of “The Life and Times of Frida Kahlo” on Wednesday, March 22, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the ATLC Auditorium.
The movie screening is sponsored by Cincinnati State’s JAIDE Council (Justice, Access, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity) and the Cincinnati State Women’s Empowerment Network.
Popcorn, other treats, and prizes will be part of the event.
- The film is described by its producers as “an intimate biography of a woman who gracefully balanced a private life of illness and pain against a public persona that was flamboyant, irreverent and world-renowned.” The film explores Kahlo’s life as an artist, including the famous self-portraits that “turned her life into a work of art,” as well as the Mexican culture that inspired her work.
- This 2005 documentary, first aired on PBS, was produced, directed, and written by Amy Stechler, who also co-produced, wrote, and edited many Ken Burns documentaries.
To help with event planning– and especially if you are planning to bring a class to the film screening– please RSVP to Angelica Kennedy (angelica.kennedy@cincinnatistate.edu), or you can reply to the calendar invitation that was sent from Dr. Posey to all employees.
