Black History Month activities on campus start with historical scavenger hunt
Cincinnati State Student Activities invites all members of the College community to celebrate Black History Month by joining the Black History Scavenger Hunt taking place Tuesday, Feb. 7, through Thursday, Feb. 9, on Clifton Campus.
Students and employees can participate in this informative and fun activity– but only students are eligible for prizes, including entering a drawing to win a $50 gift card.
- To join the hunt, pick up a Scavenger Hunt packet from the Student Activities Office (ATLC 204). The office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Then, look for 10 Black History Month posters placed throughout the three buildings (Main, ATLC, and HPB) on Clifton Campus. Each poster introduces you to an important African-American inventor and his or her achievements.
- When you find each poster, fill in the portion of the Scavenger Hunt packet about that person and their contributions.
After you find all 10 posters, turn in your completed packet at the Student Activities Office no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9.
Upcoming activities include viewing documentaries about women of achievement
The Programs and Events Subcommittee of the College’s JAIDE Council (Justice, Access, Inclusion, Diversity, & Equity), in collaboration with the Women’s Empowerment Network, is planning to recognize women of achievement throughout Black History Month (February) and Women’s History Month (March).
Upcoming activities/events include:
- Messages about inspirational women from history shared via the Clifton Campus plasma screens.
- Screenings of documentaries about women of achievement like Rosa Parks and Frida Kahlo.
