Welcome, new Automotive faculty member Dave Shelton
The Business Technologies Division welcomed Dave (Hiram) Shelton as a new Annually Contracted Instructor (full-time faculty member) in the Automotive Service Management program, effective at the start of Spring Semester.
Dave brings over 25 years of teaching experience at the secondary and post-secondary levels and he has served as an adjunct faculty member at Cincinnati State for more than 7 years. He has taught numerous CState courses including Introduction to Automotive Technology, Engine Repair, Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electrical Systems 1 and 2, and Powertrain Systems and Service.
Dave has an associate’s degree in Automotive with a major in Business from the University of Northwestern in Minnesota, and a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Education from Northern Kentucky University.
Dave’s automotive-related certifications include Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Master Technician, ASE Advanced Level, ASE Maintenance & Light Repair, numerous factory training certificates from automobile companies, and military training in Electronics and Light Vehicle Mechanics.
Dave’s previous instructional experience include Grant County High School Career & Technical Center, James D. Patton Area Technology Center, and Gateway Community and Technical College. He also worked with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
Dave is happily married to Julie, his wife of 28 years, and has a son and daughter still at home while working full time pursuing their master’s degrees. On weekends you can find Dave helping local Boy Scout troops or spending time with family members, which according to Dave means “working on houses, appliances, cars, and more.”
