Resetting CState passwords is a step in restoring network systems
All Cincinnati State students and employees received an email message on Tuesday, November 29, about 5:15 p.m., with instructions for resetting their Cincinnati State password.
- Current passwords for all students and employees expired at 6 a.m. today (November 30) and users could start setting new passwords at 7 a.m.
- Establishing a new password for every user of the CState network is an important part of preparing to restore access to the systems that were affected by the network outage.
Students and employees can reset their password from off-campus by going directly to the MyCState/Blackboard start page using any device.
- On-campus students and employees can reset their password from their phone.
- On-campus students using a laptop computer (including loaned College laptops) can reset their password while connected to Wi-Fi.
- Students on Clifton Campus can go to ATLC 316 to reset their password, but cannot reset passwords from other classrooms, labs, or “cafe” computers.
- On-campus employees using a College laptop or desktop computer need to take other steps that are described in the emailed instructions.

Other work to restore network systems is in process
During his November 29 Update session for employees, Provost Robbin Hoopes said he is “optimistic” that MyServices and Colleague will be accessible to students and employees during the week of December 5; however, several additional steps are needed before these systems are available to all.
Steps that will take place before Colleague and MyServices are fully available include checking and verifying information related to finance/billing operations, financial aid, and Registrar’s office processes.
The steps for restoring network access also will include moving information from the DualEnroll system, where students are able to “reserve” courses for Spring Semester, into MyServices/Colleague. Provost Hoopes said that about 700 students so far have used DualEnroll to save their Spring course selections.
New student applications, currently being accepted using the Paycor system, also will need to be moved into Colleague. Provost Hoopes said about 300 new student applications have been received using the temporary Paycor system.
Provost Hoopes also said more than 450 requests for Cincinnati State transcripts have been completed using temporary processes.
A timetable for restoring all systems affected by the outage is still in development. More information will be shared when it is available.
