It’s cold outside: please support the Coat Drive and the Sock Drive
Two giving opportunities are underway this month that seek support from CState employees and students:
- The Coat Drive sponsored by the Cincinnati State Student Government Association and the Parenting Resource Center.
- The Sock Drive sponsored by Nursing students in collaboration with the Recovery Center of Hamilton County.
Coat Drive: Donations of new or clean, gently-used coats, hats, gloves, and scarves in all sizes will be accepted until November 23. Look for the donation box outside the Parenting Resource Center (Main 135) or get in touch with Denise Gabrelski (denise.gabrelski@cincinnatistate.edu).
Donated coats and other winter gear will be distributed to those in need via the Parenting Resource Center and other campus organizations.
Sock Drive: Donations of new socks in adult sizes for men and women can be added to donation boxes in the Health Professions Building and other campus offices throughout the month of November.
The socks with be donated to the Recovery Center, a non-profit organization that “promotes health and wellness through empowerment, education, and peer support so individuals affected by mental illness can live fulfilling lives.”
Nursing students started this project after touring the Recovery Center at the beginning of their on-site clinical experiences for Fall semester.
If you have questions about the Sock Drive, contact Nursing Professor Janice Curry (janice.curry@cincinnatistate.edu) for more information.
