CState celebrated Constitution Day
Nearly 50 students participated in Cincinnati State’s Constitution Day activities, sponsored by Student Activities, on September 15. Activities to mark the day included playing the Constitutional Day Quiz (and earning a candy bar for trying), as well as registering to vote or updating their voter registration information.
Feyisa Melka was the winner of a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card.
Constitution Day– also known as Citizenship Day– is celebrated on September 17 each year to commemorate the day in 1787 that delegates to the first U.S. Constitutional Convention (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, and more than 30 other “founding fathers”) signed the document that established the U.S. national government.
In 2004, the U.S. Congress designated Sep. 17 as Constitution Day, with requirements for public schools and governmental offices to provide educational programs to promote better understanding of the Constitution and citizenship (both native-born and naturalized).
