CState helps sponsor Black Family Reunion 2022 on Aug. 18-21
Cincinnati State is a sponsor of the 2022 Midwest Black Family Reunion, which takes place Thursday, August 18, through Sunday, August 21.
The College has participated for many years in the annual Black Family Reunion, a 4-day celebration of Black families and culture that includes music, guest speakers, a parade, and many other events and activities. The theme of this year’s event (the 34th Black Family Reunion) is “Bold & Beautiful.”
All members of the community are invited to hear the keynote speaker, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, on August 18 at 7 p.m. at Corinthian Baptist Church (1920 Tennessee Ave., Cincinnati). The event is free and open to the public, with open seating.
Dr. Dyson is a professor of sociology at Georgetown University, a New York Times contributing opinion writer, and a contributing editor of The New Republic magazine and ESPN’s The Undefeated website. His most recent book is Tears We Cannot Stop. He is a frequent guest on TV news and entertainment programs. (Click to view a video clip of Dr. Dyson on “The Late Late Show with James Corden”)
Cincinnati State will join the Black Family Reunion All Professions Career Fair at the Hard Rock Casino (1000 Broadway St., Cincinnati) on August 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The College also will have a booth at the Black Family Reunion Urban Concert 2022 at Sawyer Point Park on Saturday, August 20, from noon to 8 p.m. Special guest performer Raheem Devaughn will appear on the Main Stage at 6 p.m.
