“CState Cares” app provides support and resources for students and employees
The Cincinnati State Counseling Center and the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) are pleased to announce the launch of a new mobile app: “CState Cares.”
The free app– available for downloading from the Apple App Store or Google Play for the Android platform– provides quick access to a variety of resources for students, family members and friends of students, and College faculty and staff members.
The app offers guidance for self-care, supporting a friend in need, suicide prevention, coping with mental health challenges, and more.
BIT team member Dr. Heather Hatchett (Department Chair, Social & Behavioral Sciences) said, “We hope many students, employees, and others will benefit from using the app to connect easily with the services that fit their needs and preferences.”
“The app can be used anywhere, at any time, to address immediate needs, connect with services used before, or find new options for coping and support,” Heather added.
Resources available through the app include:
- Personal counseling
- Mental health support and crisis lines
- Suicide awareness and education
- Addiction services and crisis lines
- Food and housing assistance
- Academic support
- Personal tools for coping with a variety of issues
The CState Cares app was created with assistance from Dr. Kenneth Browner, the campus psychologist at Lakeland Community College. Dr. Browner and the technical team at Lakeland have worked with several organizations to develop customized resource apps similar to CState Cares.
The Cincinnati State app team included Soni Hill (Senior Director of Student Success and Development), Eric Smith (Counseling Services Triage Coordinator), Dr. Marianne Niese (Program Chair, Human and Social Services), and Dr. Hatchett.
