Reminder: Prescription refill process has changed for College insurance users
Employees using College insurance benefits are reminded that the process for obtaining “maintenance medications” has new requirements that went into effect on July 1.
Maintenance medications are prescriptions commonly used to treat conditions that are considered chronic or long-term, and require daily use of medicines. Maintenance medications include drugs used to treat high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, diabetes, and other conditions.
Starting July 1, 2022, after you have received three 30-day prescription refills at a retail pharmacy location, the College insurance plan will then require you to refill maintenance medications in 90-day supplies, either by using the CVS/Caremark mail order pharmacy or at a CVS retail pharmacy location.
The 90-day CVS/Caremark prescription refill typically will cost less than three 30-day supply prescription refills, and you can use the mail order service to have your prescriptions delivered safely to your home, or you can pick up your prescription at your local CVS retail pharmacy.
For additional information, you can access the CState Benefits System (the online portal used for Open Enrollment) at any time. To log on, go to www.cincinnatistatebenefits.com.
Questions about benefits can be directed to the College’s Human Resources Office at hr@cincinnatistate.edu.
