Welcome, New Math Dept faculty
During Fall Semester, Cincinnati State’s Humanities & Sciences Division welcomed four new tenure-track faculty members to the Mathematics Department– but none of the four are new to the College.
Nora Beckmann has taught math courses at Cincinnati State for seven years, as an adjunct faculty member and for the past four years as an Annually Contracted Instructor.
Nora’s background is in industry as a former GE Aviation engineer. She holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Engineering as well as an MBA.
Nora looks forward to working on business and STEM-related projects at the College. She grew up in Arizona and has 2 sons: an engineer and a musician.
Kristi Drout began teaching at CState in 1989 as an adjunct for Engineering Technology classes, and moved to teaching math in the early 2000’s. She looks forward to helping even more students achieve their goals while working as a full-time instructor.
Kristi is a 1986 graduate of Cincinnati State, and earned a B.S.E. in 1989, an MEd in Special Education in 2000, and an MAT from UC in 2019.
Kristi’s husband, Rick, is a 1983 Cincinnati State graduate. They have two grown children, Riki and Noah. Kristi is also the proud daughter of one of the College’s founders, Tom Stark, and Annie Stark, a retired member of the Registrar’s office staff.
Reena Goel has taught at Cincinnati State for 16 years, including serving as an Annually Contracted Instructor of Math for the past four years. She has master’s degrees in Applied Mathematics and M.Phil Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology in Roorkee, India.
Reena moved to the U.S. 28 years ago, is married to her wonderful husband and has two sons (AI and ML, an engineer and a second-year medical student).
She enjoys cooking and she has a passion for helping our students succeed and furthering Cincinnati State’s mission.
Shada Salem has been an adjunct instructor of Math for the past three years, and has strived to help her students overcome learning obstacles.
She earned B.S and M.S. degrees in Mathematics, with a minor in Materials Science and Engineering, and she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
Shada says her favorite topics in mathematics include Algebra and Real Analysis, and one of her big dreams is to see the Northern Lights.
