Effective this week, Dr. Myshamil “My” Walker is the full time Director of the Cincinnati State Transfer Center.

Dr. Walker has served since February 2019 as the part-time Coordinator of the Transfer Center.

With a full-time Director in place, the Transfer Center in ATLC 221 has expanded hours of operation:

  • Monday-Thursday – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dr. Walker is a Cincinnati State graduate who served the College in a variety of roles prior to becoming the Transfer Center Coordinator, and now, the Director.

She taught Academic Foundations Math classes for seven years and also served as a tutor for students in Welding, Machine Operator, and Supply Chain Management programs, and as COMPASS Bootcamp Coordinator.

After completing her Associate of Arts degree at Cincinnati State, Dr. Walker earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Union Institute and University, a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Mathematics Education from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership & Management from Capella University.

She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the Cincinnati Chapter of Business and Professional Women, and Test Prep and Tutoring Professionals, as well as an alumni AmeriCorps member.

Dr. Walker has been recognized by several organizations for her contributions and skills as an educator.

Dean of Humanities & Sciences Geoffrey Woolf said, “Myshamil is the embodiment of the promise of Cincinnati State—someone who arrived at the College not even realizing her own potential, but eventually taking her education to the highest level.”

Geoff added, “Dr. Walker applies the learning from her own educational journey to her work as a tireless advocate for student success– she doesn’t give up on students, and will not let them give up on themselves.”

Students who are thinking about transfer to a bachelor’s degree program after graduating from CState are encouraged to visit the Transfer Center to meet with Dr. Walker and representatives from other colleges and universities, and learn more about their educational options.
