Welcome, new Associate Dean of Nursing Marre Barnette
Marre Barnette is the new Associate Dean and Director of Nursing in the Health & Public Safety Division.
Marre started in the nursing field in 1994, and earned her associate’s degree in Nursing from Cincinnati State in 2003.
She continued her education at the University of Cincinnati, earning a bachelor’s in Nursing and a master’s degree in Occupational Health.
She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Nursing Practice.
Marre describes her career in healthcare as “pretty diverse” but says her main focus has been in the dialysis and education realms, working her way up from floor nurse to Director of Operations in dialysis and a clinical instructor, to Dean/Department Chair at a proprietary college.
“I valued all of my roles and tried to gather as much from each as I could to enrich the next,” she said.
In non-work time, Marre enjoys time with family and friends, and her “beautiful pit bull named Harley.”
She also likes to ride her motorcycle, work in her garden, and “fulfill my purpose in caring for others.”
Marre is proud of her three grown children (a nurse, a dancer/model, and a TV series production assistant– plus a granddog and a grandcat, “but no grandchildren… yet”).
Marre added, “I’m excited about being back at Cincinnati State, on the other side of the classroom, and I look forward to this venture and serving our community.”
